Traditional way of making Palak Paneer can be very time consuming and messy because you have to cook spinach, blend and cook again which would require too many dishes/blender to wash. I love palak paneer so I had to find an easier way to make it! This recipe lets you make Palak Paneer in one pot in about 30 min.

Please modify the spices and ingredients as per your taste preference. Enjoy Palak Paneer with paratha or Jeera rice (Cumin Rice). This recipe can be made in instant pot as well.

Ingredients

Serves: 1-2 people | Total Prep Time: 30 min

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil

  • 10-12 oz spinach (2 x 5oz fresh spinach bags or frozen spinach is fine too)

  • 1 small/medium size onion chopped

  • 10-15 small cubes of Paneer (or more if needed)

  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds

  • 1/2 tsp green chili paste (~1-2 whole green chili chopped)

  • 1 tsp garlic paste

  • 1/2 tsp garam masala

  • Salt per taste

  • 1/2 cup water (add more if needed)

  • Lemon juice from 1/2 lemon (add more if needed)

  • Onion and lemon for garnish

Direction

  • Heat olive oil in a pan and add cumin seeds.

  • Once cumin seeds start to turn brown and aromatic, add onion.

  • Saute onion until it begins to turn brown (it is important to cook onion completely for a good taste)

  • Add spices, spinach and water. Cover and cook until spinach is cooked (takes about 5 min)

  • Turn off the heat when spinach is cooked. Using hand mixture, blend the mixture until desired texture reached. Add water if needed

  • Turn on the heat again and add Paneer. Cook for 2-3 min and then add lemon juice.
