All about Essential Oils - Good and Bad

Essential oils (EO) are in trend right now just like Kombucha! I always loved how essential oils made the room smell when diffused. And my knowledge of EO was limited to diffusing them. I was not aware of the whole Aroma Therapy aspect until recently.

How did I get introduced to the world of Aroma Therapy?

I knew many people on Instagram who were distributors of Young Living and doTerra essential oils. These two are the biggest EO companies (You can't find the original products on amazon or any stores. You have to buy through either of their members or become a member to buy it online). I went to my doctor and she was using Young Living products. I asked her and she recommended couple of oils that can help with stress and hormone balance. I was impressed as a profession was speaking very highly of it. I came home and messaged one of the members to buy that particular oil. I needed a second diffuser for my bedroom anyways so I decided to just buy a kit and become a member. Once you become a member, you can buy oils at discounted price for life. I didn't have much to loose so I got a kit and became a member. I do not regret buying the whole kit because it is economically cheaper.

True/Pure EO:

I had cheap oils from Amazon and never thought about how they can be harmful if not pure. If they don't say 100% Therapeutic grade on it, don't use it. the cheap EO can be made by mixing a bunch of chemicals to create fragrance. This is a BIG NO.

Pure EO can be very helpful especially for people suffering from stress, anxiety and depression. Studies have shown that it was as helpful as some of the leading anxiety medicines

When can be EO be dangerous:

Everything is good in moderation and can be harmful if done in access.

if you are going to use EO topically, please verify that you are not allergic to it by applying to a small area on skin and wait 1-2 days. Yes, people can be allergic to 100% therapeutic plant based material (just like peanuts)

Follow the direction on the bottle and do NOT over use. DO NOT over diffuse them. DO NOT diffuse them all the time; from morning till night. Especially the adrenal modulator oils, the oils that can affect your hormones like Endoflex. Usually the instruction on the bottle says to diffuse for 30 min up-to 3 times a day. I confirmed all this with a professional!

What are my favorite oils and how do I use them?

I used all the oils of starter kit and I love them. Digize is great for digestion. Valor is a great natural perfume for me as I am allergic to regular chemical perfumes. Peace and Calm, Stress Away are awesome to control my stress level and to calm me during crazy work days.

I will be doing separate posts on how I use them.

  • I have made a facial toner which i have been using everyday. I love it.

  • I am making a facial lotion and waiting for one of the ingredients to arrive.

  • Also, I am planning to make air freshner and fabric freshner. Coming soon..

Just to be clear, I am NOT trying to sell Young Living products by this. I will only give my honest opinions on the oils. I am not doing business with them or trying to enroll anyone. I do have membership so I can buy oils at discounted price for people. I would be happy to enroll someone if interested and I will get some money but it will not make me rich. This is not a sells article by any means.

Bottom line, Aroma Therapy is real and it can be beneficial if done correctly with help of professional!

Stay tuned for more EO information...
